Week 5 · Why gut health is hormonal health

Gut–Hormone Axis

Your gut metabolises and clears hormones. A compromised gut leads to hormonal reabsorption and imbalance. This week we connect the two systems.

1

How your gut processes hormones

After your liver processes oestrogen, your gut's bacteria determine whether it's excreted or reabsorbed. Certain gut bacteria (the 'estrobolome') can reactivate oestrogen, driving oestrogen dominance. Gut health is directly hormonal health.

2

Fiber and hormone clearance

Adequate fiber binds to processed hormones and carries them out. Low fiber means reabsorption. This week you build fiber intake gradually — 30g daily target — through diverse whole foods.

3

Liver support

Your liver does the first pass of hormone processing. We support it with cruciferous vegetables, which contain compounds that aid oestrogen metabolism. Daily broccoli, cauliflower, kale, or Brussels sprouts this week.
