Environmental Hormones
Everyday products contain compounds that disrupt your endocrine system. This week we identify and reduce your exposure to the highest-impact disruptors.
Endocrine disruptors 101
BPA, phthalates, parabens, and fragrances mimic or block your hormones at tiny doses. They're in plastics, personal care products, receipts, and household cleaners. You can't avoid them entirely, but you can dramatically reduce your load.
The high-impact swaps
Three swaps with the biggest hormonal impact: switch to a clean personal care brand (skin and body), ditch plastic food storage for glass, and replace scented candles and air fresheners with natural alternatives. Start with what you use most.
Water and food inputs
A good water filter removes hormone-disrupting compounds from your drinking water. Choosing organic for the highest-pesticide foods (the 'Dirty Dozen') reduces another class of endocrine disruptors. Both are investments in long-term hormonal health.
